SHILLONG: Ram Singh, the returning officer in Tura, lodged a complaint on Wednesday that a Facebook post by Kairul Islam was an attempt to polarise Muslim voters in the plains of Garo Hills in favour of a particular candidate.
The screenshot of the Facebook post was reposted by Greaterborn A’gitok on the Facebook page of ‘The Times of Garo Hills’ and the was circulated through WhatsApp. The complaint was lodged because the inflammatory post circulated widely on social media may create tension both at the regional level and beyond the borders and affect communal harmony and law and order during electioneering.
