NONGPOH: Jemino Mawthoh, the MDA’s common candidate, on Wednesday said why Congress MP Vincent Pala was silent in the Lok Sabha when the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill and othr “burning issues” were being discussed.
Addressing a gathering at a public meeting of the MDA allies at Umsning, Mawthoh said Pala was also silent on issues like border dispute.
He added that the Meghalaya-Assam border problem, farmers’ plight, inclusion of the Khasi language in the Eight Schedule are among the important issues which he would raise in Parliament if voted to power.
Mawthoh expressed his gratitude to the coalition partners — HSPDP, NPP, PDF and UDP — for reposing faith in him and supporting him.
The meeting was also attended by local MLA Jason Sawkmie Mawlong, MDC Macdalyne Sawkmie Mawlong and former MDC Donkupar Sumer, among others.
