IIM presents PG degrees on 10th convocation

SHILLONG: As many as 177 students graduated from the Post Graduate Programme of Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Shillong during its 10th Annual Convocation on Saturday.
IIM, Shillong conferred MBA degrees to Post Graduate students for the first time. A total of 23 Post Graduate Executive students are being conferred Post Graduate Diplomas for Executives.
Leader Vivek Lall Vice President, Aeronautics Strategy and Business Development at Lockheed Martin Corporation said that the goal of all educational system across the globe is to seek development and technology. The entire world is expecting Indians to be innovative.
Lall also referred to Late A P J Abdul Kalam known as ‘Kalam Sir’ in IIM, Shillong who ignited young minds to dream for an India that would not only occupy a prime place in the world but also take care of the people living at the bottom of the pyramid.
Chairman of the Board of Governors, Shishir Kumar Bajoria pointed out that IIM, Shillong has emerged as one of the best IIMs within the decade. The students have privileges but they come with obligations to the nation. Director of the Institute, D P Goyal lauded the students for bringing laurels to the institution from national and international platforms. Arjun V was awarded Chairman’s Gold Medal for securing highest CGPA and the Institute Silver medal to Parag Sharna for the second highest CGPA. Director’s Gold Medal for Best All-Rounder and Institute’s medal for positive contribution to campus life was awarded to Subhabrata Mukherjee and Thota Varun Kumar was awarded Institute Medal for Positive Contribution to Campus life.
For the PGPEx Programme, Kumari Poulami Mitra was awarded the Chairman’s Gold Medal for securing highest CGPA and Ankur Nahar was awarded Gold Medal for best all-rounder for the class of 2018.
With its consistent performance this season, the Institute recorded average CTC of 16.79 LPA witnessing a significant increase of 8.3% over the last year. The highest domestic CTC stood at 28 LPA. The recruitment drive saw participations from 62 recruiters.
