SHILLONG: The Khasi Disabilities Association (KDA) has appealed to the District Social Welfare Officer (DSWO) to provide scheme benefits for Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) in cash.
The DSWO gives scholarship, book grant and unemployment allowance to PwDs between April and May every year. Last year, some applicants did not receive the benefit due to bank related issues.
However, they were informed to visit the office of the DSWO with updated bank passbook and disability certificate to receive the scheme benefits.
The association has informed parents of disabled children to seek assistance from DSWO or KDA in order to avail the welfare benefit.
