Rs 6.4 lakh seized in WGH

TURA: Election teams during routine ‘naka’ checking near Hallidayganj village in West Garo Hills district on Saturday seized Rs 6.4 lakh from two individuals.
Flying Squad teams on duty under the Hallidayganj police station seized the cash from Binoy Gopal Saha and Foridul  Sheikh after
they failed to provide documents to substantiate their claim the money was meant for purposes other than election related. An amount of Rs 1.60 lakh was recovered from Seikh while Rs 4.80 lakh was seized from Saha.The money has brought to Tura and kept in the treasury. “We have asked them to show proof of ownership but none have come forward till now,” confirmed Returning Officer Ram Singh on the seizure.
