Star Cement staff accused of stealing coal

JOWAI: Some staff of Star Cement, East Jaintia Hills, are allegedly involved in stealing coal from the depot of the company and illegally transporting it outside the state.
The Resident Director, Devendar Bansal, has lodged a complaint with the Lumshnong Police in this connection.
According to the complaint, on Friday around 10 pm, the security supervisor of the company, T Hame Gympat, allowed four HyVa trucks to enter the company premises without recording entry and later they were detected loaded with coal stolen from the company’s coal yard.
One of the trucks had no registration plate while its chasis number is MAT479156H3K2561. The three other trucks had registration numbers ML11-8555, ML11-1669 and ML11-3669. The trucks were seized and handed over to police. Besides the security supervisor, Bhawani Singh, who is looking after the company’s coal yard, L&T operator, Vishnu Singha, and ring leader of the company now residing at Ladrymbai, Umit Singh, were named in the FIR. Others involved in the theft are yet to be identified.
