TURA: Former chief minister and the Indian National Congress (INC) candidate from Tura seat, Mukul Sangma has exuded confidence about his party and himself of winning both the Tura and Shillong seats.

The former CM added that the seats would be won comfortably in both places while the Congress will fare much better in the other 89 in the first phase as the “other parties want to throw out the present government,” said Mukul.

Further Mukul was confident that the trend would continue in the 2nd phase of polls as well.

The statement was made today after the casting of vote by the former CM. He was accompanied to the Chengkompara polling booth under Ampati along with his wife and daughter, Dikkanchi D Shira and Miani D Shira, both MLAs from SWGH.

“People realized that the government of the day has all along only been misleading them with false promises and pretty dreams. This is even as they have been interested in filling their own coffers and acting with vengeance against anyone that dares to question them,” said the former CM.

The INC candidate added that reputed institutions within the country were repeatedly compromised by the government which was acting dictator like and denying people their Constitutional rights.

“The agenda of the government is only selfish interest. Their agenda has never been on development and betterment of the people. People have clearly seen through that and I believe they will give a befitting reply,” he added.
