SHILLONG: The Hill Farmer Union (HFU) has demanded assistance to farmers whose crops were damaged in natural calamities in Khasi Hills.
In a statement issued here, the union said the monetary assistance should not be a meagre amount of Rs 100 or Rs 200, but should be according to assessment of damage.
At the same time, the union demanded that the state government should implement the crop insurance scheme to ensure that the farmers can avail its benefits.
