Accident
On Wednesday around 3:15 pm, one truck (UP-15M-8373) driven by Omar Singh Yadav (26) met with an accident at Nongspung NH-44E in West Khasi Hills. The driver and handyman of the truck sustained injuries as a result of the accident and taken to Nongstoin Civil Hospital where the handyman was later referred to NEIGRIHMS for better treatment.
NGT violation
On Thursday around 4:20 pm, CP Mawkon, EAC, Nongstoin, informed police that some suspected coal laden trucks at Mawrusyiar in West Khasi Hills were in direct violation of NGT orders. Acting on the tip off, police rushed to the spot and detected three trucks (ML-10B-6678, ML-10A-9614 and ML-10B-7284) parked in a hidden area near the national highway at Mawrusyiar. However, the drivers of the trucks had fled the scene before the police arrived. Meanwhile, the trucks were seized and taken to Mawiaban Police Reserve.
