Govt notifies Ri Bhoi weighbridges for operation

Shillong: The government has permitted operationalisation of the integrated weighbridge at Umling (Exit) by successful bidder Win Pale vide a notification on Thursday.
In pursuance of an order of the High Court of Meghalaya on November 11, 2018, the government had allowed Gavin M. Mylliem for operation of the weighbridge on March 27, 2019. However, after the clearance issued by the Election Commission of India on March 29, the government has permitted operationalisation of the weighbridge by Win Pale of Wahiajer village, West Jaintia Hills district.
In view of the order of the court and in terms of the agreement between the government and Gavin M Mylliem of March 26, 2019, the weighbridge has been denotified with immediate effect and any excess/extra amount paid as per pro rata lease payment will be refunded, a press release said.
The weighbridge of Win Pale has been notified to issue weighment certificates to all coal/goods laden vehicles passing through the weighbridge for a period of three years from the date of commencement of the operation of the weighbridge, according to the Joint Secretary, Transport Department.
The weighbridge at Killing, Ri Bhoi district, of Win Pale has also been notified to issue weighment certificates.
Besides, the weighbridge at Umling (Entry) of Kyrpad Shylla of Wahiajer Village has also been notified to issue weighment certificates.
