Midday meal workers demand salary hike in JH

SHILLONG: The newly formed All Jaiñtia Midday Meal Workers Union has demanded the state government to raise their salaries and to ensure regular payment during a meeting of mid-day meal workers of SSA schools at the Iing Dorbar Shnong in Ladthalaboh village, Jowai on Saturday.
The meeting discussed topics such as the meager salary of Rs 1000 per month, long working hours and the irregularity in the disbursement of salary. Over 220 mid-day meal workers attended the meeting along with office bearers of the All Jaiñtia Muster Roll workers & Labour Union, Jowai.
It may be mentioned that the All Jaiñtia Midday Meal Workers Union was formed to address the welfare and grievances of the workers in collaboration with the All Jaiñtia Muster Roll Workers & Labour Union.
