TURA: A group of organisations comprising the GSU, ADE, AYWO and FKJGP filed a police complaint against those operating a form of gambling locally called ‘Bawil Dawil’ in Tura on Tuesday. They also demanded its closure as it is illegal.
These organizations claim that the game’s principle stands on the amount of money put in that allows one to either win or lose a large sum of money.
“Bawil Dawil is played using the same principal, it is gambling and we are all aware that gambling in the state of Meghalaya requires an act or an ordinance. It is in our understanding that this particular gambling has not yet got the official sanction of the state,” alleged the student groups.
