GUWAHATI: An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 measured in the Richter Scale, jolted Northeast India in the pre-dawn hours (1.45 am) of Wednesday.
According to data available with India Meteorological Department, the earthquake had its epicenter in West Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh (28.6 ﹾN Latitude and 94.4ﹾE Longitude) at a depth of 10 km.
The jolt which was there for few seconds, jerked residents in many parts of the region out of sleep. However, there has been no report of any casualty in the region so far because of the quake.
