Re-polling in 12 polling stations of Inner Manipur today

Imphal: The Election Commission of India has ordered re-poll in 12 polling stations for Inner Manipur Parliamentary constituency on Wednesday.
In a statement here, Manipur Chief Electoral Officer Singh said that the ECI has declared under Section 58 (2) of the Representation of People Act,1951 that the poll taken on April 18 in respect of the twelve polling stations of no. 1-Inner Manipur Parliamentary Constituency to be void and appoints April 24 as the date and fixes the hours from 7 am to 4 pm for taking fresh poll.
The re-poll will be done in the constituencies of Chief Minister, N Biren, Information Minister, Th Biswajit and Th Shyamkumar, Minister Environment.
The Congress, CPI and other political parties had been demanding re-poll in most constituencies alleging mass booth capturing.
The repoll will be done at Heingang Mayai Leikai (A), 2/26-Heingang Makha Leikai, 2-Heingang 2/31-Kairang Muslim Mayai Leikai, 2/32-Kairang Muslim Mamang Leikai, 2/33-Kairang Khunou Chingya Leikai, Thongju 5/32-Khongman Zone-V(B), 6/6-Klyamgei Mamang Leikai, 8/10-Kiyamgel Muslim (South) (A), 6-Keirao 6/20-Urup Muslim, 6/35-Thiyam Konjil (B), Andro 1/32 and 7/39-Nungbrang.
The concerned returning officer, assistant returning officers were directed to make necessary arrangements for the re-polls.
The Police department will make appropriate security arrangements for the conduct of re-polls. Webcasting/ CCTV coverage of the above twelve polling stations will also be done, both for outside the polling station as well as inside the polling stations. (UNI)
