SHILLONG: An interaction was held with the members of Meghalaya Legislative Assembly here in an effort to adopt the National e-Vidhan Application (NeVA) at the earliest to make way for paperless work.
In this connection a workshop on NeVA in collaboration with the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, New Delhi was held at the Annexe Hall, Meghalaya Legislative Assembly on Wednesday.
NeVA is developed on the motto of one nation, one application. Some of the state legislative assemblies have already kept their data in the application.
Joint secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, Satya Prakash said NeVA is set to empower legislation which is member centric information. It is the first step to go digital.
Surendra Nath Tripathi, Secretary, Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, said the Parliament will be a model for many democracies if it is digitised. He maintained that digitisation may not be perfect and that it is a slow transformation.
Through NeVA, 5374 members are being linked through telephone and email. So far, NeVA has a collection of over 2 lakh questions and answers, over 2000 committee reports and over 1 lakh papers laid in various Assemblies.
It will also show the list of business, papers to be laid, bills for introduction, consideration for passing, committee reports, questions and answers, bulletins part I and II, synopsis of proceedings.
The workshop will conclude on Thursday.
