Assam CM condemns attack on journalists

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today strongly condemned the attack on journalist Rajen Deka and Upasana Baruah Goswami.

In a statement, the Chief Minister said the state government is committed to safety and security of journalists. He said the assault against the two media persons was highly condemnable and the state government would take strict action against the perpetrators. Sonowal also directed DGP Kuladhar Saikia to take immediate steps on the incident.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister’s Media Advisor Hrishikesh Goswami also discussed the matter with the DGP and asked him to take urgent measures to nab the culprits. The Media Advisor also called the injured journalists over phone to take stock of their health and wished them early recovery.
