More nurses posts likely in NEIGRIHMS
SHILLONG: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) has sanctioned the posts of nurses in NEIGRIHMS giving priority to the candidates of Meghalaya.President of Lok Janshakti Party Jamil Ahmed had written a letter to the MoHFW with regard to preference to the candidates from the state during recruitment by NEIGRIHMS.The ministry also informed that in the first phase 301 posts of nurses were created in NEIGRIHMS. Moreover, it projected creation of 151 posts in the 2nd and 3rd phase while 204 posts have been stocked for future projection.

Cultural fest at Marngar
SHILLONG: The Raid Shnong of Hima Mylliem in collaboration with 15 Raid of Them, Ri-Bhoi will organise a cultural festival at Marngar field on May 3 and 4. In a statement on Friday, Nathanial Thangkhiew, Elder of Nongkseh informed that Chief Executive Member of Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council Teinwell Dkhar will inaugurate the festival. Thangkhiew said the festival aims at preserving the culture and traditions of the people, including dances and cuisine. The Department of Arts and Culture will give funds to organise the festival.

Embankment demanded
SHILLONG: The Anti-Corruption and Human Development Organisation (ACHDO) has demanded construction of embankments on both sides of the Rangai River in Chibinang, West Garo Hills in order to prevent flash floods. The government has established embankment on only one side of the river while the other side remains unprotected and water could flow into the land and cause extensive damage. In a statement, the association said that the protection on one side of the river was also wearing out and it could jeopardise people’s lives.

Ri-Bhoi Idol 2nd round today
Nongpoh: The Ri-Bhoi Entertainment Society will hold the second round of the second edition of Ri-Bhoi Idol 2019 completing the audition rounds across the district. The second round will be held at the auditorium of Umsning Town Dorbar from 1 pm on Saturday. As many as 35 participants selected in the auditions at Nongpoh, Umden, Patharkhmah, Mawhati, Byrnihat, Bhoirymbong and Umsning will compete in the second round of the competition. The organisers have urged the people to witness the talent extravaganza and thanked the family and guardians of participants for their support.
