SHILLONG: UDP leaders from Khatar Shnong, Sohra have alleged that People’s Democratic Front (PDF) MLA Gavin Mylliem was not sincere about supporting the MDA consensus candidate for the Shillong Lok Sabha seat, Jemino Mawthoh, in the election held on April 11.
Speaking to a section of reporters, UDP leader from Khatarshnong, Riskhem Prang said, “We have come to know that the MLA had not directed his supporters and leaders in UDP, Sohra to support Mawthoh and, instead said they could exercise their free will.”
Prang went on to allege that Mylliem secretly gave directions to support Congress candidate Vincent Pala. “Nevertheless, we will check the result on May 23 and see how many votes the MDA consensus candidate gets from Sohra,” Prang said adding Mylliem did not attend public meetings convened to garner support for Mawthoh. Reports have claimed that MDA allies such as the NPP and PDF did not support Mawthoh.
