Gold biscuits seized from man at Guwahati rail station

GUWAHATI: A team from Government Railway Police recovered eight gold biscuits from the possession of a man at Guwahati Railway Station on Sunday morning.

Sources said a train checking party of GRP led by assistant sub inspector, SK Singh recovered the items from Md Harish Mahmood, 51, who was inside a coach of the Kamrup Express (Dn) standing on platform number one.

The present address of Mahmood was stated to be Mumbai but he belongs to Kannur, Kerala. He had reached here from Dimapur and was on his way to Kolkata when the GRP team apprehended him.

The gold biscuits weigh 1300 kg and their approximate value is Rs 43 lakh.

Steps have been taken to hand over the seized items to the customs department along with the person
