NONGSTOIN: The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Nongstoin Circle, has once again issued a demand to the chief manager of State Bank of India (SBI), Nongstoin branch to replace two ATM machines which have not been functioning for the past two years.
Franklin Syiemiong, president of KSU Nongstoin circle, told The Shillong Times that the union had met the chief manager two months back and had spoken to him regarding the matter.
Syiemiong said that the chief manager had assured the union that he would replace the non-functioning ATM machines and would also install a new passbook update machine.
“But till date, there is only one functioning ATM machine as nothing has been done,” Syiemiong said.
“People stand in queues for almost one hour just to draw cash or generate pin,” he added.
Syiemiong said that the union has also received complaints from the people that bank employees refuse to update passbooks.
“So to solve the problem of the customers the chief manger should install a new passbook update machine,” he said.
