SHILLONG: In yet another instance indicating illegal transportation of coal is taking place in the state, a truck carrying coal capsized at Mawiong Rim on the outskirts of the city on Monday.
Police said one partially capsized truck (number not furnished) loaded with coal was found at Mawiong Rim in violation of the NGT order. However, the driver and handyman are reportedly absconding. Two trucks carrying coal illegally had capsized in Ri Bhoi district a few days back. While the Opposition Congress has been continuously slamming the government for allowing coal mining and related activities, the latter on the other hand claims to be taking every possible step to check on illegal coal mining.
