Accident
A portion of the sand quarry collapsed on Donboklang Laloo (18) while he was working at Mawrong Road in Ri Bhoi on Thursday. The victim was rushed to CHC Umsning, where he was declared brought dead.
On Thursday around 3 pm, a boat ferrying three persons identified as Rinaldo Syiem (29), Tiewly Warjri (30) and Bahdeng (34), capsized at Umiam Lake in Ri Bhoi. Bystanders managed to rescue Rinaldo Syiem and Tiewly Warjri, while Bahdeng remains untraceable.
On April 30 around 7:40 pm, one motorcycle (A/F) ridden by Chaturdarchi Chakma crashed on the road at 13th Mile Byrnihat in Ri Bhoi. The rider sustained injuries as a result of the accident.
On April 30 around 8:15 pm, one tempo (ML-14-1499) driven by Utpal Hajong (32) collided with one scooty (ML-14-3480) ridden by Karma Hajong (21) at Kalaichar village in South West Garo Hills. The rider and two pillion riders sustained injuries and were taken to PHC Zikzak.
Assault
A woman lodged a complaint stating that on April 29 around 4 pm, one Dipankar Bhattacharjee assaulted her at Tura Bengali Higher Secondary School in West Garo Hills.
Prestina Umbah lodged a complaint stating that on April 28 between 7 pm and 8 pm, one unidentified masked miscreant attacked her at Ja-ir village in Ri Bhoi. The victim was taken to CHC Umsning
Mono Devi lodged a complaint stating that on April 27, Saman of Jhalupara, borrowed Rs 10,000 from her with a promise to pay back the money within a week. However, when the complainant approached her for the money, the borrower assaulted and threatened her.
Fire
On Wednesday around 12:30 pm, a fire broke at 15th Mile Byrnihat in Ri Bhoi, wherein one mobile shop belonging to Md. Motibur Rahman was completely gutted, while one footwear shop belonging to Md. Farizuddin Borbhuiya was partially damaged.
Fraud
Ram Prasad Sharma lodged a complaint stating that on April 17, he discovered that his employee Chamak Nath had been selling goods worth Rs 60,000 without his knowledge.
Jerryson Marbaniang lodged a complaint stating that on April 4, Havilder Manjeet cheated him of Rs 27,000 by promising to deliver a scooty.
Girls escape unharmed
A complaint was lodged stating that on April 28 around 8 pm, Johan Ch Marak (20) lured two eighteen-year-old girls and took them on a motorcycle (AS-25G-4005) towards a nearby jungle, where two unidentified men were reportedly waiting for them. On reaching the jungle, Johan Ch Marak left the girls and fled. The girls saw the two unidentified men and managed to escape.
Poisoning
Poli Shylla of Mukhla Sohshrieh village in West Jaintia Hills lodged a complaint stating that on April 29 around 6 pm, Phis Phawa of the same village, put poison in her drinking water pot. As a result, her daughter Sapna Shylla and one baby fell sick after drinking the water. The victims were admitted at CH Ialong. Police have arrested the accused.
Theft
On April 29, unknown miscreants stole three BTS machines valued around Rs 4,50,000, one cell-starter valued around Rs. 8,500, one charging alternator valued around Rs. 5,000 and an assortment of batteries from GTL Mobile Tower at Pding Blai, Shangpung, Khliehmuchut village under Raliang OP in West Jaintia Hills.
Threat
Merelyne Bell Wankhar lodged a complaint stating that her son Lambok Wankhar ectorted money from her by threatening her and her daughter.
