SHILLONG: Congress legislator Process T Sawkmie on Friday demanded a magisterial inquiry into the attack on Michael Warjri, Secretary of Hima Nongspung.
In a statement issued on Friday, Sawkmie said the state government should institute a magisterial inquiry regarding the matter so that the truth will come out.
“I was surprised to see the attitude of the Assam Police who, after arresting Michael Warjri, took him to Assam and locked him up there instead of handing him over to Ri Bhoi police”, Sawkmie said.
Three persons were arrested for ransacking the house of Warjri at Balakhawa village recently.
Demand for police camp
Jirang legislator Sosthenes Sohtun has asked the state government to set up a police camp at Balakhawa village.
In a letter to Home Minister James Sangma, Sohtun said people are facing a lot of problems due to the non availability of a police camp and they have to visit the Khanapara police station, which is nearly 70 kilometre from the village, even for reporting minor cases.
