Mawphlang-Balat road repair slow

SHILLONG: The repairing work of a major portion of the Mawphlang-Balat road which connects the state to Bangladesh, is lagging behind, according to sources.
Sources also informed that no repairing work has been done in the past few weeks, adding that the pace at which the work is going on is indeed very slow.
It may be mentioned that the repairing of the road was taken up a few months back after the Deputy Chief Minister had assured on the floor of the House that the road would be taken up on a priority basis.
It is learnt that 25 kilometers of the road is in pitiful condition and that the Public Accounts Committee had inspected the road last year including the road from Dangar to Ryngkhu which is also in a dilapidated state even though it is an international border road.
The repairing of the road is of utmost importance as it is vital for the safety and security of the border areas.
