Michael Warjri released on bail by Assam Police

SHILLONG: The secretary of the Hima Nongspung, Michael Warjri who was arrested by has been granted bail by Assam Police .

Home Minister James Sangma on Thursday confirmed that Warjri had been granted bail and the Meghalaya Government was in active communication and touch with Assam Government to amicably solve the matter.

Warjri, whose house was allegedly vandalised by a mob on May 7, was lodged in Lokhra jail in Assam. His house was allegedly attacked due to his opposition to a PMGSY road initiated by the Assam government in the area.

A case (191 (5) 2019) under sections 341/325/387 was registered against the 76-year-old Warjri at Palasbari police station in Kamrup district of Assam.
