Nongpoh MLA asks for IBADP schemes for villages on state boundary

NONGPOH:  Expressing concerned over lack of various developmental activities in villages lying along the inter-state boundary of Assam and Meghalaya, especially in his constituency, the local legislator of Nongpoh constituency, Meralborn Syiem has urged the Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma for inclusion of Nongpoh constituency under Inter-state Border Area Development Programme (IBADP) as well.

Speaking to media persons, Syiem said that some of the villages in Nongpoh constituency also lied along the inter-state boundary with Assam, therefore, they should also receive the same benefit as border villages of other constituencies.

Syiem also lamented that till date, several villages of Nongpoh constituency lying on the inter-state boundary with Assam were yet to avail any benefit from the centrally-sponsored IBADP scheme.

He also informed that he had taken up this matter with the Chief Minister of the state, Conrad K Sangma urging for implementation of the IBADP scheme in his constituency as well for the benefit of the people residing on the state boundary areas.

Syiem also claimed to have informed that he had taken up with the Chief Minister for speedy implementation of various schemes under the ‘Aspirational District’ in Ri Bhoi District as selected by the Central government earlier.
