SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Monday assured to resolve the issue of non-payment of salaries for three months to the deficit teachers at the earliest.
Speaking to reporters, he said he would find out the exact status on the non-release of salaries.
He said that the delay in payment may be due to some problems, but added that such problems should not have obstructed the payment of salaries.
“We will resolve the issue at the earliest,” the chief minister said. The teachers of deficit schools have not received their salaries for the past three months (March to May), Khasi Jaintia Deficit School Teachers Association (KJDSTA) president, Babu Kular Khongjirem had earlier said.
The executive committee of KJDSTA in its meeting held on Friday decided to meet the director to apprise him of all the pending issues of the teachers.
