Server congestion, glitch delay results

SHILLONG/TURA: While the official declaration of the result was delayed in Shillong due to ECI server congestion, in Tura there was a glitch in the VVPAT slip counting.
The official declaration of the result for Shillong seat was at around 8.30 pm.
Earlier, the election department had set the target at 4 pm.
An official said though the counting of votes under Electronically Transmitted Postal Ballot System (ETPBS) sent by the defence personnel was taken up at 8 am simultaneously, there was delay due to server congestion. Later, the Election Commission ordered for manual counting from 1 pm and it took several hours to complete. The ETPBS online system is only meant for service voters.
The official declaration of result for Tura parliamentary seat was further delayed by the Returning Officer due to a glitch in the VVPAT counting from Gambegre constituency in West Garo Hills, the official added. The result was declared only at 9 pm.
