EKH resident gets Jeevan Raksha Padak

SHILLONG: Khrawboklang Kharlukhi, a resident of Mawryngkneng village in East Khasi Hills District, was conferred with the Jeevan Raksha Padak Award 2018 during a felicitation programme held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here on Tuesday.
On March 25, 2017, Kharlukhi had saved a Class-I student, Rolandroy Lawai, from drowning in Umnamlang river which falls under Mawryngkneng C&RD Block.
The award, comprising of a certificate, medal and Rs 1 lakh was handed over by Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Bhagotia.
The award is presented for meritorious humane acts of saving the life of persons in emergency incidents.
