SHILLONG: Nothing can be an impediment if one has grit and perseverance and Kwintilaris Lyngdoh Kynshi has proved it.
The visually impaired student of Pearly Dew Higher Secondary School has secured first division in her SSLC examinations with distinction in Khasi. Her achievement is an inspiration for many young persons with disabilities who are fighting a tough battle.
Kynshi was born with one functional eye having 90 per cent visual impairment. But it did not stop her from excelling in studies. Her proud parents, Besparwel Nongrang and Aidaris Kynshi, are from Kyrdem Kulai in Ri Bhoi district.
The student stays with principal T Kharsati who has also been her guardian for the past three years.
In a statement, the principal said he wants her achievement to inspire others to overcome their difficulties and disabilities “by having God in their hearts and thus facing all doubts and fears with quiet confidence”.
“She has worked with diligence right from the beginning and even though she would lose her entire vision at times, she would persevere until she understood all her lessons. Such determination, hard work and faith are not usually seen in one so young and disadvantaged,” he added.
