SHILLONG: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has reposed faith in the leadership of AICC president Rahul Gandhi to continue as the party president.
Talking to media persons here on Monday, CLP leader Mukul Sangma said that the CLP in its recent meeting decided to appeal to Rahul Gandhi not to resign and continue to guide the party.
He said that the landslide victory of the BJP, the whole electoral process, political discourse and the outcome of the election shall be another source of learning for leaders of all political parties.
It may be mentioned that the number of state Congress MLAs has reduced to 19 in the House of 60 after losing the Selsella seat in the recent by-poll.
Besides, Mukul had lost the prestigious Tura LS seat to NPP candidate, Agatha Sangma by a margin of over 60,000 votes.
The CLP believes that the party has responded to the call for duty to flag the issues, he said.
When asked if he would take the responsibly of the party’s poor performance in Meghalaya, Mukul said that there are many issues which are discussed in the party but not shared with media.
