SHILLONG: A team of political parties comprising Congress, UDP, NPP, BJP, HSPDP, KHNAM , NCP and others met the 15th Finance Commission which arrived here on Monday.
During the meeting, leaders across party lines expressed concern over the ever increasing traffic jams and urged the Commission to recommend four lane, flyovers and sky walks in the city.
While urging the panel to increase the funds share for Meghalaya, most of the political parties also stressed on better road connectivity for the state
Congress spokesperson HM Shangpliang said that he has also asked for a cancer hospital to be set up in Meghalaya since cancer cases are rampant in the state besides expressing concern over the maternal mortality rate (MMR) and the Infant mortality rate (IMR).
During the meeting, political parties also stressed on pricing policy for farmers since most of the benefits are taken away middlemen.
