JOWAI: A woman, who was allegedly attacked by her husband with a hammer, is now in critical condition after having suffered severe head injuries.
The woman identified as Biewtiful Sumer of Iengkar village under Nongjngi Elaka, was assaulted by her husband Ajit Bormon from Tripura at their residence in Khliehriat, East Jaintia Hills.
Bormon absconded after committing the crime.
According to a complaint lodged by her uncle, Miet Sumer, the incident took place around 2:45 pm on Thursday when nobody was at home.
Later, the victim’s mother and relatives rushed her to a local health centre where she was referred to a hospital in the city for proper treatment.
The victim’s uncle has requested the police to nab the accused and book him according to the law.
