SHILLONG: With the MDA set to hold its first cabinet meeting on the outskirts of the city on Monday, Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong has justified the move by saying that it will send a positive signal to the people.
The cabinet meeting will held in Tura.
There was criticism from some quarters that the symbolic move will only drain the state exchequer besides wasting time.
When this was brought to his notice, Tynsong said the government wants to make its presence felt everywhere and hence it decided to hold the cabinet meetings beyond Shillong.
“I may not like to go beyond my comfort zone but we are doing it for the sake of the people”, Tynsong said.
To a question on the expenditure involved for holding the cabinet meeting in Tura, Tynsong said, “It may be Rs 5 lakh or Rs 10 lakh but we are spending it for the people”
