SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Friday informed that talks with Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on the inter-state border dispute will be held soon.
Speaking to a section of the media here, he attributed the delay in holding the discussion to their busy schedule.
“We had decided that we will be meeting around this time but because of the NITI Aayog meeting with Prime Minister tomorrow (Saturday), the talks will take time,” he said.
“The process has started and, hopefully, very soon we will be able to come together,” he added.
As for the alleged encroachment by Assam in Psiar, West Jaintia Hills, Sangma said that he had a telephonic conversation with his counterpart to avoid such incidents in future.
“I have spoken to him on the phone and told him that such incidents should be avoided. We will meet and decide on how to move forward. In the meantime, these actions have been stopped,” he said.
