Rijiju assures support for Games

SHILLONG: Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju on Sunday assured the state government of all help and support to make the National Games 2022 a grand success.
A delegation of the state cabinet headed by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma met Rijiju on Sunday at his residence in New Delhi and discussed the various issues and hurdles confronted by the state government in the run up to the Games.
“I along with Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, Sports Minister Banteidor Lyngdoh and Transport Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar met Rijiju in his residence and briefed him regarding hosting of the National Games and he said that we will get all support from the Union government to host the games,” informed Health Minister AL Hek, who was part of the delegation.
The delegation also met Minister of Railways and Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goya and sought assistance for trade and commerce projects.
Meghalaya is going to held the National Games for the first time in 2022 and the preliminary work for the sporting infrastructure has begun.
