District Level Subroto Cup begins in Mawkyrwat today

Mawkyrwat: The ‘South West Khasi Hills District Level Subroto Cup Inter-School Football Tournament, 2019’ for both boys and girls organized by the office of the District Sports Officer (DSO) South West Khasi Hills in Mawkyrwat begins on Monday.
17 schools in the U-17 Boys category, 11 schools in the U-17 Girls category and 17 schools in the U-14 Boys category from both Mawkyrwat and Ranikor C&RD Block participated in the tournament which was played in two playgrounds – Mawkyrwat District Sports Association Stadium in Mawkyrwat and Nonglang playground in Nonglang village. The tournament will end on July 1, 2019 and the winners will participate in the State Level Subroto Cup Football Tournament in Shillong.
The first game of the tournament was played between Lyngdoh Wanniang Secondary School against Jakrem Presbyterian Secondary School in the U-17 Boys category in which the Jakrem won by 1-0 goal. In other matches of U-17 Boys category, Horirai Syiemlieh HS School defeated Rodphoh Secondary School by 1-0 goal, Presbyterian Secondary School Mawlangwir lost to Lumtongun Secondary School by 0-1 goal, Balang Mawlangwir HS School defeated St. Mary’s Secondary School by 3-0 goals and Mawjarain Pres Secondary School defeated Mawkyrwat Presbyterian Secondary School by 2-0 goals.
Meanwhile, in the U-14 Boys category, Littlestar HS School defeated Domjyrti RC UP School by 11-0 goals, Phlangkynshi UP School lost to Rangjadong Presbyterian UP School by 0-3 goals.
