Driver cons passengers, extorts money

SHILLONG: Akram Ali of Karaibill village, Kamrup Assam lodged a complaint that on June 12, the driver and his accomplices conned his brother Jonab Ali and extorted Rs 4 lakh.
Jonab Ali was proceeding from Shillong towards Nongstoin, West Khasi Hills (WKH) in a hired vehicle (AS-01BY-7366) driven by one Shajahan Ali.
During the journey, the driver stopped the vehicle at Sohpian Tri-Junction in WKH pretending to attend a phone call, while the accomplices Abdul Halim and Sobur Uddin of Chaygaon, Kamrup, Assam extorted the money.
After the deed, the culprits left the victim midway at Mawmaram village in WKH.
