Workshop to create awareness on Rotavirus held in Baghmara

TURA: A daylong workshop on Rotavirus vaccination was organised for medical staff of South Garo Hills at Baghmara on Tuesday wherein the dangers for children from the disease and ways to prevent it through vaccination were discussed.Rotavirus is a highly contagious virus. It is the most common organism that causes diarrhoea in children which may lead to hospitalization and even death. To prevent children from the virus an oral vaccination programme is undertaken.The district level workshop on Rotavirus vaccine for medical officers and supervisers, organised by the District Health Society, dwelt at length on the importance of awareness about the disease and the vaccination to prevent it.Social mobilization, keeping up medical surveillance, maintaining the cold chain of the vaccines and communication planning to curb any possible outbreak of the disease in children were taken up in detail by dr. Jacob Marak and others of the district during the awareness and mobilization programme.
