Mortal remains of 13 air warriors taken to Jorhat

GUWAHATI: The mortal remains of all the 13 air-warriors were recovered from the An-32 aircraft crash site in Arunachal Pradesh and taken to the Air Force Station at Jorhat in Upper Assam.
Official sources here on Thursday said the mortal remains would be sent to their hometown, where funeral as per service customs would be carried out. 
“Indian Air Force stands with the families and next-of-kin of all the air-warriors who lost their lives in the line of duty. IAF thanks Indian Army, Indian Navy, National Technical Research Organisation, state administration and civil population for their unstinted support during search and rescue operations,” a statement said.
It may be mentioned that the aircraft took off from Air Force Station at Jorhat in Assam in the afternoon of June 3 but lost contact with the radar after about half an hour. 
A multi-agency search was thereafter carried out amid inclement weather from time to time and the wreckage of was located on a mountain slope in Arunachal Pradesh eight days later.
All the 13 air-warriors on board the aircraft died in the crash.
