Shillong Shreehatta Utsav from tomorrow

SHILLONG: The Shillong Shreehatta Sammilanee (SSS) in collaboration with cultural group, Bongo-Bodhu, will organise a food festival on Saturday on the State Central Library premises in the city as part of Shillong Shreehatta Utsav-2019.
SSS president Jayanta Bhusan Bhattacharjee will inaugurate the celebrations with a flag hoisting ceremony.
The organisation also informed that the annual general meeting of the All India Federation of Shreehatta Sammilanis (AIFSS) will be held at 10:30 on the same day at U So So Tham Auditorium.
On Sunday , Governor Tathagata Roy will inaugurate the day’s proceedings in the presence of Syed SM Ali, High Commissioner of Bangladesh, AL Hek, Minister of Health and other dignitaries.
The organisation will also felicitate Dr. K Das of Kalyani Hospital, Silchar in recognition of his medical contributions to the people of the North East along with two senior leaders of the All India Federation of Shreehatta Sammilanis (AIFSS) for their contributions to society.
A cultural programme will be held at 2:30pm where popular Bengali artistes from Kolkata namely Dohar, Tapan Das and others are scheduled to perform.
