SHILLONG: Director East and North East India, British Council, Debanjan Chakrabarti on Friday said the number of research scholars from the Northeastern states to apply for scholarships in the UK was low.
He was in the city to attend the concluding programme of British Council’s United Kingdom-India Education and Research Initiative leadership development activity.
Speaking to reporters, Chakrabarti said, “Educational leadership is the key need for India. However, applications from the North East are relatively low.”
He informed that over 100 scholarships for Post Graduate and research studies were given to women from India to study in the UK. He said that scholarship details were available on the British Council India website.
