SHILLONG: The AICC in-charge North East, Luizinho Faleiro, on Friday said the regional parties, who are a part of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA), look at short term benefits in the state but in the long term, they are helping the BJP to ruin the state.
Talking to media persons here on Friday, Faleiro lamented that many of the regional parties in the state and in the region are supporting the NEDA whose chairman is Amit Shah and everyone knows the agenda of BJP and RSS.
“It is a loss for the Northeastern states as the region used to enjoy several benefits but now all such benefits have been taken away,” he said.
Slamming the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre for taking away all the benefits meant for the region, Faleiro added that the regional parties should not think about short term pleasure of ruling, but in the long term, the ill effects of joining the party whose agenda is different, will be visible as it is demonstrated on the issue of CAB.
Terming CAB as a sinister legislation, he stated that the Congress and the other stakeholders fought the CAB unitedly but now the CAB as part of the BJP’s election promise will be brought in July.
Faleiro questioned whether the BJP’s idea of radicalisation will be accepted by the people of the North East or it will be opposed.
He also made a clarion call to all the Northeastern states irrespective of the ruling to come together for protecting the future of the North East.
Earlier, he said the country is also going through a difficult phase in terms of poor economic growth and low GDP. Agriculture sector is also affected, he added.
