Conrad meets Gadkari, hopes for resumption of work on pending projects

SHILLONG: MeghalayaChief Minister, Conrad Sangma met the Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways, Nitin Gadkari to discuss on ongoing projects such as the Central Road Funds (CRF) and the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL).

Sangma sounded optimistic about resumption of work on pending road projects and there were discussions on speeding up the implementation of other national highway projects which are yet to start.

The CM said that the state government received a very positive response from Gadkari.

“We discuss about new projects under CRF and inter-state connectivity and declare some of the new highway as national highway. But we have to look into those areas,” Sangma said.

He also informed that the bridge over Brahmaputra connecting Dhubri and Phulbari which is under Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) funding, is expected to take off very soon.

NPP office in Delhi

On the other hand, Conrad who is the national president of NPP along with his party members, Tura MP Agatha Sangma, NPP MLA and also advisor to CM, Thomas Sangma met the Union Minister Housing and Urban Affairs, Hardeep Puri to discuss on matters related to party and allotment of space for NPP office in Delhi.

Direct flights between Shillong and Delhi

Conrad also discussed on better air connectivity for Meghalaya and introduction of direct flights between Shillong and Delhi with Puri who is also the Union Civil Aviation Minister.

In a tweet, Conrad expressed gratitude to Puri’s positive attitude.
