Debt unpaid
Starwin Kharjana of Mawnarian Village, East Khasi Hills, lodged a complaint that one Heren Kharmawphlang of the same village received a work order of Rs one lakh for construction of a footpath (2015-16) from KHADC. Since Heren Kharmawphlang did not have any money, he approached the village Dorbar for help, who, in turn, approached the complainant to take up the construction, with a promise that Heren Kharmawphlang will repay him the full amount on completion of the work and on receiving payment from KHADC. However, on completion of the work and receiving the amount from KHADC, Heren Kharmawphlang gave the complainant only Rs. 36,000 and failed to pay the remaining amount till date.

Maintenance support stopped
A woman lodged a complaint that the monthly-maintenance support of Rs. 6,000/- which was being deducted from her husband’s salary stopped as soon as her husband retired from service. Later, on her request, the Office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest & HoFF, Meghalaya, Shillong, had written a letter dated 25/04/2019 to the Senior Treasury Officer, Shillong District Treasury, to deduct Rs. 6,000/- per month, as per court order. However, the complainant learnt that the above letter did not reach the concerned department, thereby depriving her from receiving the maintenance support. The complainant also alleged that a peon of the Office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest & HoFF is responsible for not delivering the letter mentioned above, and that he may have been influenced by another women, who is the second wife of her husband.
