SHILLONG: The Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong, has asserted that 80 per cent of the residents of Harijan Colony are not genuine settlers and that inventorisation is not only for the government employees there but for all.
Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, he said, “I know well that 80 per cent are not at all genuine. That is why these 20 per cent are scared even to come up with their genuine documents.”
He added, “It seems maximum are illegal settlers. The illegal settlers should not be scared but they should produce their papers, and we are here not to throw them out but to come up with a permanent solution where they can get a better place.”
Tynsong went on to state that the government knows its employees and it wants to know exactly who are the people staying in the Colony.
