SHILLONG: A delegation of the Meghalaya EMRI Workers’ Union members met Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong on Thursday to discuss the union’s charter of demands.
On the other hand, Tynsong requested the union to resolve the matter with the GVK management.
The president of the union, Roipar Kharraswai, said that they are satisfied with the Deputy CM’s response.
Kharraswai informed that out of 36 demands, there are 33 demands that needs to be looked into.
He said that the state government will have to look into the demand of the salary of the EMRI workers, their accommodation and equipment.
The union also demanded equal pay for equal work.
He also stated that there is a shortage of manpower which has caused a lot of stress among the employees.
