Former Garo Sahitya Sabha chief passes away

SHILLONG: Hilberth G. Momin, former President and present Adviser of Garo Sahitya Sabha (GSS) has passed away at his residence in Pangsanggre village, near Dudhnoi, Goalpara, Assam on Sunday, a release issued here informed. He served the Garo Sahitya Sabha (GSS) since its formation in 1978. The GSS is the apex socio-cultural and literary organisation of the Garo people living in Assam.
Late Hilberth G. Momin was inducted into the GSS executive body in 1978 as the Organising Secretary. In 1994, at the GSS annual conference held at Shantipur, under Kamrup District, he was nominated to the post of the president. He held this prestigious post till 1998.
President of the Garo Sahitya sabha, Soroj Sangma, General Secretary John Carry D. Sangma, Organising Secretary Prabir Sangma, Treasurer Kriffolin Sangma and office bearers were present during the funeral ceremony and expressed their heartfelt condolences.
