Agartala: A 15 member delegation of ruling BJP’s coalition partner in Tripura Government, Indigenous Peoples’ Front of Tripura (IPFT), led by it’s president and Revenue Minister N C Debbarma left for Delhi on Sunday to call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in the next two days.
The relation between BJP and IPFT has turned bitter following series of incidences and power fights. Recently, house of Loksabha MP from East Tripura reserved seat Rebati Tripura’s house was allegedly attacked by IPFT cadres and in retaliation BJP also indulged violence in various places.
The IPFT General Secretary and Tribal Welfare Minister Mevar Kr Jamatia was accused by BJP of maintaining clandestine relation with CPI (M) and held a meeting last week with them though Jamatia denied the allegation and stated it was a conspiracy hatched to weak BJP-IPFT government.
However, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb was also not happy with the activities of IPFT leaders especially perpetrating violence and indulging terror in the mixed populated areas including forcefully collecting subscription from the traders and wage earners.
The BJP sources said the party will have a detail discussion on continuing the coalition with IPFT soon after the process of ensuing three-tire panchayat election will over by this month.
However, IPFT has been working hard to capture Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council with the support of other parties including BJP. (UNI)
