Local youths develop mobile game in Khasi

SHILLONG: Keen to add entertainment while adding a bit of knowledge, a group of young people developed a mobile game in Khasi, titled “Shi Kyntien” or one word.
Aibor Nongkynrih (25), Aikindasuk Khongsngi (26), and Denzil Sawian (25) put their heads together to develop the mobile game which is gaining popularity.
Interacting with reporters here on Wednesday after they were felicitated by the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) on the occasion of Tirot Sing Syiem death anniversary, they said more than 10,000 people have downloaded and installed the game on their phones after it was developed two weeks ago.
According to them, the one word game in Khasi will allow people to recall
Nongkynrih said he learnt on the tricks of developing the game through YouTube. In successfully development of the mobile game, the trio had different roles which included Nongkynrih concentrating on coding, Khongsngi working out the graphics and Sawian collecting the Khasi words. Asked, the trio said they had to shell out money around Rs 10,000.
Besides the focus on Khasi language, Nongkynrih said the trio is reaching out to rural children by helping them to learn English.
